ILAYATHALAPATHY FANATICS OPEN LETTER TO ALL VIJAY FANS......

Being a Mass Hero is the most difficult job in the world! Even more than character artists because it’s an art which requires an actor to entertain with nothing in the film! In that way I liked Vijay very much because early in 2000s Vijay was (and still is) the next big thing in Kollywood!

Vijay might not have the handsome looks or screen presence as Ajith but what he lacks in that he makes up for with his emotions, comical timing and dance skills.

Being a fan is one thing and being a "fanatic" is a diff thing! What Vijay has is a troop of fanatics who will defend him to death a feat which none of other actors ever have!

And Vijay as a person also wants to have such fanatics because the one thing we all know is how desperate Vijay wants to be heralded as the next "heir apparent" to MGR's brand of cinema to politics transition! He has made no secret in his films and he hopes by having such a huge number of fanatics makes that transition easy!

There in lies the difference between a Vijay and Ajith who fears to have fanatics and dissolved all his fan clubs! Because being a fan you can always give constructive criticism but once you become fanatics you will stop seeing the negatives!

I have seen all the posts of Vijay fanatics and not one post have I seen a constructive criticism! Every post I read is like"THALAPATHY's treat, No one can beat our PATHY, This is what we expect from THALAPATHY, He has given us a movie like Pokkiri and we are satisfied with it"
And then I see posts by Vijay fans asking other actor fans to respectably f**k off from saying anything about your THALAPATHY or abusing all reviewers (eminent or amateurs) who review negatively or say this film has nothing new and just a rehash of all his old films!
You know what people see in such posts? A desperation from you fanatics to make people like what you like or in other words you hate people pointing out the obvious that the formula Vijay uses is stale a point which you people so badly want to ignore!
I see you fanatics and I really think if you people start to constructively criticize your THALAPATHY you can bring a great change in Tamil Cinema because your strength is so much!

This being said I am not saying I am a World Cinema Aficionado who happened to see Tamil Movies! I am also a Masala film fan who is super excited seeing OSTHE trailer but too much of anything is good for nothing!

If you Vijay fans want neutrals or other hero fans to accept your THALAPATHY's film you have to come up with something different. If you decide what your hero currently gives you is good enough then you should never comment or abuse what neutrals comment about the film!
That being said it’s good to see Vijay finally trying to become brave after the change of govt. in doing Shankar and GVM films! I hope this newfound braveness in him continues.

And an advice for all you Vijay fans do not show your frustration by abusing people who comment against him, if your THALAPATHY does movies good enough, original enough, all these Anti-Vijays and Neutrals are bound to come to your side!

I said this after seeing 7Am Arivu and I am saying this now also VELAYUDHAM will be a great hit, a profitable venture enough to make the actor think ,'Right my fanatics will never desert me no matter what I give them' & the producer think 'Right anyone can gain profit by making Vijay act in any kind of film'

What I see is an actor with such huge potential being wasted in such films. If Vijay had the guts to explore ventures with the talent he has and the fan following he has he can take Tamil Cinema to new heights.

I am not going to review this film much than saying the plus and minus of the film because reviewing it will be retyping what I said for his previous 10 films.

POSITIVES:
Santhanam and co (really if this film did not have Santhanam and other comedians this would have been comparable to 7Am Arivu)
Maayam Seithaayo (For first time Vijay tried to do different in a song rather than his usual dancing amongst artificial sets of sugarcanes and haystacks or walking in a chilly mountain around heroine)
Really Good story

NEGATIVES:
Same old same old
Cliches cliches cliches
Bad screenplay which wasted a potentially good story
Bad wardrobe selection (Entire movie I saw a plain silk shirt tailored with eye sore tapestry lining)
Lack of originality (*cough* Assassins Creed *cough*)
This movie had too many heroines to handle
Villains (too villainy and too gory for family viewing)
Too long

VERDICT: Another staple movie from Vijay which entertains but nothing more. Will be a hit because of the quality of movies which surround it and also by Vijay fanatics who will watch the movie any number of times just to see their THALAPATHY.
